DOLLYWOOD HOSTS DEAF AWARENESS DAY DEC. 2


PIGEON FORGE, Tenn.—Dollywood hosts Deaf Awareness Day on Dec. 2 during the park’s annual Smoky Mountain Christmas festival.
Deaf Awareness Day at Dollywood includes interpretation of various shows, attractions and craft demonstrations. Interpreters will be on hand to assist hearing impaired guests throughout the day. They also will be available to assist guests in locating key park locations such as turnstiles, restrooms, first aid stations and information booths. An interpreter will be on hand for the park’s weekly church service at 5:30 p.m. in the Robert F. Thomas Chapel.
“Dollywood is especially proud of its participation in Deaf Awareness Day,” said Barbara Joines, VP/General Manager of Dollywood. “Through the talents of the many wonderful interpreters along with our employees, Dollywood’s attractions and entertainment are showcased to a most receptive audience.”
The University of Tennessee’s Educational Interpreting Program coordinates interpreters for Deaf Awareness Day at Dollywood. Approximately 60 interpreters participate in the event.

Interpreted Christmas Performances

"For those who weren't with us for the last year's performance... "God With Us" is our version of the Christmas Story, told through dance and music. This year's production will include performances by more that 120 of our dance, music and theatre students, as well as, several of our instructors and local guest artists. I know I'm a little biased but -- this will be an awesome event! Please make plans to attend. You will be glad you did!

God With Us will be performed at 2:00 and 7:00 on Saturday, December 8th at Boone's Creek Christian Church. Seats are limited so please order early if you have a specific show time that you'd like to attend. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children under 18.

Barter Theatre Interpreted Play, "A Christmas Carol"

"A Christmas Carol" (Scrooge) will be interpreted at the Barter Theater in Abingdon, VA. Special ticket prices for the Deaf will be $23 per person and children 12 and under are $13 each. Hobo Stew Party Plans

After talking with Crystal, We are all going to go to
her house after the Haunted Corn Maze. However, we
need to know how many of you are coming so I need to
set up a meeting with EVERYONE on Friday say around
1:30 to findout who is coming and also to decide what
everyone will bring. SO I will check with Libby to
make sure the room in DS is open for a very short
meeting (just to findout who's coming and tell
everyone what to bring) BUT!!! I need you ALL to pls
answer me and let me know if you are interested in
even doing this. SO, PLS email me back today and let
me know if you can make it to the meeting on Friday.

Jonesborough Haunted Houses, Oct 26

Hello deafies and friends,

We're going to Fender's haunted corn maze in Jonesborough on Friday Oct 26th. We are meeting around 7:30 at the corner of ETSU's parking lot across from the McDonald's on University Pkwy and State of Franklin in Johnson City, TN. in front of burgin dosset's and rogers stout parking lot, Car rides depend on how many people is going. Hello! Let's go to some deaf events!

Hi guys, this blog will be available for the JC deaf community to make plans and arrangements to travel to deaf events around the southeast US and possibly around the Eastern coast too. If there's any events that you think should be listed that anyone would like to plan to go to and travel to then let me know and I'll put it down on here.
